THE THING is a necessary structure for the examination of art and culture that links local and international actors, and for reaching audiences outside of the mainstream as well as those involved in traditional art practices. THE THING continues to encourage public debate as well as improve access to artistic/cultural events, texts and discourses in Hamburg. Initiatives like THE THING are essential to efficient and vibrant cultural development in any technologically saturated public sphere.
